"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education" - Martin Luther King, Jr.
LAKE DILLON THEATRE COMPANY EDUCATIONAL MISSION
At LDTC, our educational mission is rooted in the process of creative collaboration. We work alongside the students to develop and design individual goals that allow each student to be engaged, invested, and supported. Our process encourages personal as well as creative development by supporting the model of the 21st century skills set.
YOUTH THEATRE WORKSHOPS (AGES 4-14)
Youth Workshops are offered three times throughout the year (Spring/Summer/Fall).
This program provides students with the fundamentals of theatre, including character development, improvisation, singing, dancing, and much more. Workshops culminate in a fully staged & produced production.
The Lake Dillon Theatre Company offers opportunity for hands on experience in several fields of performing arts. The apprentice program is designed to allow the student to mentor with a professional working in his/her area of interest.
- Stage Management
ADULT PROGRAMS (AGES 18-UP)
Play Club Meets six times a year and has a conversation about a pre-selected play. Lead by LDTC, a discussion around the play’s production history, themes, characters, and more is held. Members are thrust deeply into each piece to help all have a more in-depth understanding of the play and theatre.
PAGE TO STAGE
Page to Stage gives participants a chance to be a part of one of our main stage shows in a unique way. Starting with the first rehearsal and ending in closing night, participants meet four different times, and gain access to the director, designers and cast to see how a show starts from a table to a full scale production.
THEATRE EDUCATIONAL TRIPS
Every year, the LDTC offered two different trips to theatre locations around the worlds. In the summer, participants are able to travel to a Shakespeare Festival from one of
many different festivals around the world and experience a rotation of theatre like no other. In the Fall, participants can travel to New York city to experience all the theatre that Broadway and New York has to offer.
The LDTC panel series offers patrons opportunities to participate in new and relevant discussions led by theatre practitioners and community members from across the state. Discussions cover a variety of topics, including creative perspectives, critical analysis, and state & national trends in the arts.
PROLOGUES AND EPILOGUES
PROLOGUES: Join us before every performance on the Lake Dillon Theatre Company main stage for background information regarding our current production, script history, and knowledge that will fully prepare you for the show.
EPILOGUES: After every performance of a main stage, a discussion is lead by one of our LDTC staff members. Actors join us to answer questions the audience may have regarding the production, process, or anything that came up during the show.
LDTC has partnered with Breckenridge Elementary School to begin introducing theatre into the everyday curriculum. The partnership is working with teachers and principal to help students find new ways to express themselves and become active participants in their learning.
